Marketing Manager – Cedar Rapids Area Market

Position Concept
Acquires necessary financial and volunteer resources to support the organization through direct marketing of programs in the Cedar Rapids Area Market. In addition to regional marketing responsibilities, the position coordinates special events. The position also implements a public relations plan to develop a broader market base and is a liaison to the Cedar Rapids Area Board of Directors.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Develops and implements presentations at each prospective firm and is a JA liaison for corporate partnerships. Submits names of firms and volunteers to the Education staff.
2. Directs regional marketing efforts to develop and strengthen the brand of Junior Achievement in Eastern Iowa.
3. Is responsible for the current and accurate content of the JAEI website, annual report, and/or newsletter with the assistance of the regional marketing team. Also ensures that all other regional collateral material meets corporate identity standards.
4. Oversees the Cedar Rapids Area Bowl-4-Education, Taste of Spring, Jeans-4-JA and Volley-4-Education special events. Leads planning committee, coordinates public relations and event promotional efforts, manages event logistics, coordinates recruitment of event participates, and manages budgets to meet revenue targets. Secures sponsors and manages all ROI expectations before, during and after the event.
5. Assists with developing a budget for all marketing and funding related activities.
6. Works with the Senior Operations Director in coordinating and preparing all materials for Board and Committee meetings.

Education/Experience Required
Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. One year JA or related sales experience with strong sales expertise and performance, proven written/oral communication, and organizational/planning skills. Computer literacy, including spreadsheet software.
Desired: Bachelors degree in marketing. Three years sales experience. MS Office proficiency.

Internship Opportunities:

An intern at Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa, Inc. will walk away with a working knowledge of a non-profit program and its relationship with the community, as well as its day to day operations.  We take a team approach in our office, and interns have the opportunity to attend board meetings, learn about various job functions related to running a non-profit organization, and develop skill sets that will be beneficial for future employers.  Since we are a non-profit organization, the internships are unpaid, but we will reimburse at the end of each month for parking and mileage expenses that are incurred during the job.

Marketing/Special Events Intern
Serves as an assistant to the Marketing Manager to help build community awareness of Junior Achievement in the areas we serve. Assist with special events: Business Hall of Fame, Bowl-4-Education, Volley-4-Education, Taste of Spring, or Jeans-4-JA (depending on the time of year of the internship).
Assist with newsletter, write press releases, and psa’s as assigned. Assist in the design of event logos, brochures, and ads. Assist with website updates.

Accompanies Education Manager on selected volunteer recruitment, trainings, and fund raising meetings. Will have independent responsibilities related to volunteer, information and database management as well as recruitment and marketing. We take a team approach in our office, you will have the opportunity to explore interests related to special events, development and other key issues related to operating a non-profit organization.
